So like many, gameweek 2 in FPL was a bit of a disaster! I ended up scoring 36 points – the average was 59 points. That was a rank of 5.9m out of about 6.7m teams!! It was a record breaking week for goals scored and just the 1 goal from my team!

Amazingly that is not my worse ever rank. I have not checked all previous seasons – for a start I don’t have all the stats – but last season I had a disastrous time from around GW4 to GW10 with 5 gameweeks in the 5m+ rank including one ranked 6,042,853!!

Could have been worse

Looking at the positives though, it could have been worse because at least I didn’t take a points hit and the player I got rid of (Pulisic) didn’t even play. For example, Son was the most transferred out player in the gameweek and he scored 24 points!

If I had done nothing, it probably would have been Vinagre being auto-sub and he scored just 1 point so even worse than the 2 points Bruno Fernandes scored.

It was one of those weeks though! As I mentioned it was a record breaking goal scoring week – there were 44 goals scored in total and the one player in my team was Justin – probably the least like in team you would have thought apart from the keeper and maybe Ben Davies?

The success of the gameweek seems to pretty much rely on several key players – Son, Kane, DCL, Rodriguez, Mane, Ings. I had none of them. I had the “wrong” Liverpool player (Salah), the “wrong” Southampton player (Adams – who on another day would have scored), no Everton players at all and only Spurs player was Davies.

Overall rank

This all means I now have an overall rank of 2,201,905. Its still early days though and there are many much players than me with a lower rank. Thankfully I had a good 1st gameweek.

Wildcard?

So what now? Well I decided to wildcard Gameweek 3! There are certain players who I want rid of for sure, some players I definitely want in but I have still not finalised it. I want at least one City player and that I think will be KDB. Best player in the league, looked great last game, reliable. Sterling is tempting but KDB is on penalties – and looks like penalty takers could be key this season. I want an Everton player or 2. Saint-Maximin can go. Fernandes is going – although United can’t be as bad, I think he could end up being Greenwood. There is talk that Bruno may not even be taking all United’s penalties now so he may not be worth £10.5m.
