Ended up with 119 points in gameweek 19, although that was with an 8 point hit so net 11 points. Still in the 100 club (played FPL since 2006/07 and I think only 2nd time in 100 club so says a lot about how good I am!) and it means a nice 700k Green Arrow 🙂 And in a way, my transfers got me 45 points (53 points minus 8 points hit) from Cancelo, Antonio and Stones who came in for DCL, Telles and Johnson. DCL, Telles and Johnson all did not play so scored 0.

Now up to 2.1m overall rank. Still much room for improvement but thats now 6 green arrows in a row

In the end bench boost didn’t really work out. Although Stones and Cancelo on bench, if I didn’t play bench boost, they both would be in XI. So if bench boost was not played, would have been Johnston, Bissouma, Dallas and maybe Bamford on bench which would have been 7 points from bench.

My 8 point hit was sort of needed as I had ended up with a few players who were not sure started. I had always been planning to play bench boost and in hindsight I should have not pressed the bench boost chip button with the changes in fixtures and availability of players. Oh well.

I got rid of DCL (injured), Ben Johnson (doesn’t start – took a punt on him when he played that one game) and Alex Telles (not a sure starter). But the players I got in did a very nice job for me – Stones, Antonio and Cancelo.

If I am honest, Stones would not have come in if Telles was a starter. Stones was on my watchlist though. Antonio was always going to come in for DCL – Antonio is one of best value player in FPL, DCL was out of form. And then DCL got injured so was certain. I got Cancelo in because of City’s fixtures and his stats are really good and surely a big points haul is coming soon?

So although my rank is still not great, if I keep up the steady increase in rank, the season still may end up OK. 1.3m rank increase in 6 gameweeks so who knows!

Team is 8 points from 2m and 65 points from 1m rank so I think that is doable with 19 gameweeks to go. Of course, need to use the chips at the right time. Wildcard 2 and triple captain chips still to play.

Thoughts for gameweek 20? I was thinking about getting KDB in but he is now injured. It could have been a straight swap with Salah or Son out and get rid of Firmino. I could get another City midfielder in but there is the Pep Roulette. Foden should be the obvious pick but Pep will probably rest him midweek! Gundogen in form and on penalties – so maybe the best choice. Sterling did not play in FA Cup so likely to start (?) but then he is not playing as well as other City midfielder options.
