Its been ages since I posted here, and as I type this actually closer to start of next season than last season. Anyway, as can you see in the title I finished 2.6m rank! So awful!

Everything seems to go wrong. I started season poorly, although thats not unusual, but probably the worse. 8.7m rank. Actually after GW1 it was not too bad, several green arrows and got up to 3.4m rank by GW7. Unfortunately followed that with bunch of red arrows and for reason of the season was floating around 4m rank. End of season was decent, thought by around GW33 there was an outside chance if a top 2m. But then got 3 red arrows and that ruined that.

I actually did a YouTube video reviewing my season. Its a new YouTube channel I started during the season and called it The Rubbish FPL Player – because I was doing rubbish. Had always been thinking of starting YouTube channel and one part of the channel is hoping to show journey to get a “good” rank. (I think in reality, although I had a rubbish season, I would more just a very average FPL player – but there are already channels called stuff like Average FPL).

Going back to the season and how it went (if you rather not watch the video), here is my season overall and the ranks.

So not good. However, I think I was unlucky with some of decisions. Although some mistakes – like no Haaland, no City players, no Arsenal players. But I think if you look at my GW rank, only had 2 gameweeks which are in the top 1m. Even if you are not good at FPL, you’d expect more than that just by some luck – just having the right player(s).

(Although looking at the chips used and what happened that week, the chips generally were all good).

• Surprised VDV in the XI – only got my 28pts – he scored 116pts in season. So had some in team quite a bit but missed most of his points!
• Rogers only 54 pts – he scored 169 in the season. Missed a lot of his points too!
• Dubravka just 40pts – he scored 96pts in season
• Wilson – got me 63pts. 168 in season. More points dodging!
• Munoz – 32pts for me. He scored 136 in season. Yep, more points missed

So looking at my most selected, maybe its the wrong players to have played and also having them at wrong time.

Was I unlucky?

Anyway, looking into if I was unlucky – or just rubbish.

On the Solio site, can see what projected points were compared what actually got. You can compare with all managers – or all active managers. Active managers is team which has played 6 or more of the 8 chips. Of course this can’t be 100% if someone still active but good guide – its 3.5m managers.

So based on this, my projected rank was 437k – so 1.7m higher that the overall rank of 2.1m of “active managers” – works out bottom 0.88% by luck! 152pts more than I actually got. So although I have to take some blame in what happened, I think thats pretty unlucky!

If looking at all managers, my projected rank is very similar – 440k. BUt thats 2.2m rank higher than actual rank – 2.6m. Bottom 0.63% by luck!

Anyway, on to next season. Right now its the World Cup and I am playing Fantasy World Cup. Round of 16 starts today. I am actually doing well so not rubbish at all fantasy football games! At end of Round of 32, I am 39k. How are doing?
